We load it, we haul it, and we leave the floor empty
Point at the pile. Rainbow Junk Removal & Hauling carries it out of the garage, the basement or the third floor walk-up, sweeps the space and takes it away. You get the exact price before anything is lifted, and it is based on the room your load takes up in the truck.

A real truck, not a pickup
A fourteen foot dump body with a ramp. A garage or a full storage unit goes in one trip instead of four.
You pay for space, not per item
The price follows how much room your load takes up in the truck. Everything else, the lifting, the sweeping and the dump fee, is already inside it.
A registered company with coverage
Rainbow Junk Removal & Hauling is a California LLC and carries liability insurance. The people in your hallway are not strangers off an app.
The load gets sorted
Metal, cardboard, electronics and anything still usable get pulled out before the rest goes to the transfer station.
Same day is normal
Most single item pickups happen the day you call. A full cleanout usually wants a day of notice so we block the time properly.
We leave it clean
Nobody wants an empty room with screws and dust all over it. The broom comes out before we go.
No surprises
How the price is set
Nobody can price out a garage over the phone without seeing it, so we do not pretend to. When you call, you get a range based on what you describe. Then the truck arrives, the crew looks at the real pile, and you get the exact figure before a single box is lifted.
That figure comes from how much room the load takes up in the truck. Not a count of items, not a guess at the weight. A broken dresser and a stack of boxes that fill the same space cost the same thing. Loading, carrying, the sweep up and the disposal fee are already inside the number.
If the number does not work for you, say so and we drive away. There is no charge for coming out and no charge for saying no.
What is inside the price
- Carrying it out of the room it is in
- Stairs, hallways and the walk to the truck
- Taking apart anything that will not fit through a door
- Loading and strapping the truck
- Sweeping the space when it is empty
- The disposal and recycling fees at the other end
There is no charge for coming out and no charge for turning the price down.
On the truck
What goes in
If two people can carry it and it is not on the short list below, it goes. Most of what we load is ordinary household and yard material.
Furniture
Couches, sectionals, mattresses and box springs, bed frames, dressers, desks, dining sets, office chairs.
Appliances
Refrigerators, washers and dryers, stoves, dishwashers, water heaters, window AC units, microwaves.
Electronics
Televisions, monitors, printers, computers, stereo gear and the box of cables behind all of it.
Everyday clutter
Boxes, bags of clothing, toys, kitchenware, books, paperwork, holiday decorations, the stuff in the corner.
Yard and remodel debris
Branches and brush, fence panels, decking, drywall, flooring, tile, old cabinets, bathroom fixtures.
The awkward heavy things
Hot tubs, pianos, treadmills, sheds, swing sets, pool tables, safes, filing cabinets, shelving racks.
What we cannot take
- Paint, stain, thinner and solvents
- Motor oil, antifreeze, gasoline and diesel
- Household and vehicle batteries
- Propane tanks and compressed gas cylinders
- Asbestos, and any material suspected of containing it
- Medical, biohazard and sharps waste
- Pesticides, pool chemicals and industrial cleaners
- Ammunition, fireworks and explosives
Why not
Transfer stations will not accept hazardous material from a hauler, and carrying it is against the rules we work under. This is not us being difficult.
Every county around the bay runs a household hazardous waste drop-off that takes paint, motor oil, batteries, chemicals and fluorescent tubes from residents, in most cases at no charge. Set those items to one side, we will clear everything else, and we will tell you which site is nearest to you.
One exception worth knowing. An empty paint can with the lid off and the contents fully dried out is ordinary trash in most of California, so a shelf of old cans is often less of a problem than it looks.
A few jobs
What this looks like on the day

Start to finish
How a job actually runs
Call or send a photo
Phone or text the number at the top of the page. Describe what is there, which floor it is on and how close a truck can park. You get a rough range on the spot.
We come out and quote
The crew looks at the actual load and gives you the exact price before anything is picked up. The estimate is free and you are free to turn it down.
We carry it out and sweep
Everything leaves by hand, from wherever it is sitting. We sweep the space when it is empty and sort the load on the way out so the reusable part stays out of the landfill.

Estate and whole house cleanouts through Lamorinda and the San Ramon Valley
Estate and downsizing jobs are the bulk of what we do across Alamo, Orinda, Lafayette and Moraga. A house that has been lived in for thirty or forty years does not empty in an hour, and it is almost never only about the junk. We work room by room, we stop and ask before anything that looks like it might matter leaves the house, and we set aside anything a family member still has to look at rather than making that decision for them.
The houses themselves are large and so is the storage inside them. Finished basements, attics with pull down stairs, three car garages, wine rooms, workshops and the long storage closets that run under the stairs. Pianos, pool tables, gun safes, exercise rooms and heavy office furniture come up often enough here that the crew arrives expecting them rather than discovering them.
Danville, San Ramon, Diablo and Blackhawk add a different pattern. Newer houses, long private driveways, HOA rules about where a truck can stand and for how long, and gate codes that have to be arranged in advance. None of that is difficult as long as it is sorted before the appointment, so tell us about the gate when you book rather than when we are sitting outside it.

Questions people ask
What does junk removal actually cost?
It depends on how much space the load takes up in the truck, so the honest answer is that you hear the real number once somebody is standing in front of it. A couple of items by the curb is the cheapest thing we do, and the price climbs from there as the load grows. The estimate is free and nothing gets touched until you have agreed to the price.
Do I have to drag everything outside first?
No. That is the part most people are paying for. We carry it out of the room it is sitting in, up or down stairs, out of a basement, off a second floor deck. All you have to do is point.
How quickly can you come?
Single items and small loads are often the same day. For a full garage, a storage unit or a house cleanout, a day of notice is better because we block out the time rather than squeezing it between two other jobs.
Do I need to be there the whole time?
Somebody has to let us in and approve the price before we start. After that you can go. For a storage unit or a garage with a keypad we can often sort out access by phone and send you photos of the empty space when it is done.
What happens to everything after it leaves?
Usable furniture and household goods go to donation where a charity will take them. Metal, cardboard and electronics get pulled out and recycled. What is genuinely rubbish goes to a licensed transfer station, and we pay the tipping fee out of the price you were quoted.
Why will you not take paint or chemicals?
Transfer stations will not accept them and it is against the rules for us to carry them. Every county around the bay runs a household hazardous waste drop-off that takes paint, oil, batteries and chemicals from residents, usually at no charge. Tell us what you have and we will point you at the right one.
Do you clear storage units and rental properties?
Yes, and we do a lot of them. Units that went to auction, apartments after a tenant leaves, estates, foreclosures and offices that closed. Those are jobs where the whole space has to end up empty and swept, which is what the truck is set up for.
We are clearing a parent's house. Can you be careful about what leaves?
That is the normal way we run these. Anything that looks personal, financial or like it has value gets set aside for the family instead of going on the truck, and we will stop and ask rather than guess. If you want to walk the rooms with us first and mark what stays, that is the easiest way to do it and it costs nothing.
There is a gate code and the HOA has rules about trucks.
Give us the code, the hours trucks are allowed and the name of whoever has to be notified when you book. We would far rather sort that out in advance than have a crew and a truck waiting at a gate while somebody tries to reach the management company.
Can I get proof the load went to recycling?
Yes, ask for it when you book. Some people need it for a company policy or a green building program, others just want to know. We take that load to a recycling facility instead of the landfill and send you the drop-off receipt afterward. It is a paid job like any other, since we are a hauling company and not a recycling center, but the receipt comes with it.
Do you take on hoarding cleanouts and homes after a fire or a flood?
Yes. A hoarding cleanout is usually arranged by a family member or a landlord, and it takes patience more than anything, sometimes more than one truckload. After a fire or a flood we carry out the damaged furniture, contents and debris so the repair work can start. Anything hazardous, like chemicals or asbestos, has to be handled by a licensed company before we load.
