Accessibility

This site should be usable whether you read it with a screen reader, drive it from a keyboard, talk to it, or zoom in a long way on a phone.

What we are aiming at

Level AA of WCAG 2.1, the standard most public bodies in the United States measure against.

What is in place

• Text and background colors tested for contrast, including the orange call buttons.
• Every page has one main heading and headings that run in order.
• Every image has alternative text that describes it, not a file name.
• Form fields carry a real visible label rather than a placeholder pretending to be one.
• Everything is reachable by keyboard, the focus outline stays visible, and a skip link jumps past the menu.
• Text reflows without a horizontal scrollbar down to a narrow phone screen and up to 200 per cent zoom.
• No carousels, no automatic movement, no pop ups and no video that plays on its own.

Where it is imperfect

• The embedded Google map on the contact page comes from Google and we do not control how accessible it is. Everything the map shows is written as text on the same page, so nothing is available only inside it.
• Some photographs of cluttered rooms are described in general terms. A full description of every object in a pile would help nobody.
• The site has not been audited by an outside specialist. We test it ourselves.
