Junk removal in San Francisco, carried down the stairs for you
Most of the work in this city is not the hauling. It is getting a couch down three flights of a Victorian staircase without taking the banister with it. That part is ours.

Rainbow Junk Removal & Hauling San Francisco is the San Francisco arm of Rainbow Junk Removal & Hauling. Same truck, same crew, same phone number as the rest of the Bay Area, listed separately here so you reach the people who work this side of the bridge.
San Francisco is a city of flats above flats, and almost none of them have an elevator. A dresser on the third floor of a building off Divisadero has to come down the same narrow staircase it went up, usually with a turn halfway that the furniture was never designed to make. We take it apart on the landing if that is what it takes, and we pad the walls before we start rather than after we have scuffed them.
Garages here are their own category. The ground floor garage under a house in the Sunset or the Richmond gets used as storage for twenty years, the car stops fitting, and eventually the door only opens far enough to squeeze through. Those fill a truck fast. So do in-law units in the Mission and Excelsior that are being cleared between tenants, and small SOMA and Dogpatch offices that closed and left behind desks, chairs and a server rack nobody wants.
Parking is the other half of planning a job in San Francisco. On a street where the truck can only sit legally for part of the day, or where the hill is steep enough that the ramp will not drop, we work out where the truck goes before the crew is standing there with a sofa. If your building needs a service elevator booked or a certificate of insurance on file with the HOA, say so when you call and we will handle the paperwork side first.
What we pull out of San Francisco most often
- Flat and apartment cleanouts between tenants
- Ground floor garages packed to the door
- Couches and mattresses down narrow staircases
- Office and small retail clearouts in SOMA and the Mission
- Remodel debris, old cabinets and bathroom fixtures
- Televisions, monitors and electronics for recycling
Not on the list? It probably still goes. Call and describe it.

What it costs here
The same way it works everywhere we go. You get a range on the phone from your description, then the exact figure in person once the crew has seen the load, based on the space it takes up in the truck. Carrying, stairs, sweeping and the dump fee are already inside that number.
Turn the price down and we drive away. There is no fee for the visit.
We cannot carry
- Paint, stain, thinner and solvents
- Motor oil, antifreeze, gasoline and diesel
- Household and vehicle batteries
- Propane tanks and compressed gas cylinders
- Asbestos, and any material suspected of containing it
- Medical, biohazard and sharps waste
- Pesticides, pool chemicals and industrial cleaners
- Ammunition, fireworks and explosives
Your county runs a free drop-off for these. Ask us which one.
Questions about San Francisco
Can the truck park on my street in San Francisco?
Usually, and where it is tight we plan it before the crew arrives rather than after. Tell us the cross streets and whether there is a driveway or a loading zone nearby. On a steep block we may ask to work from the flatter end and carry a little further, which does not change the price.
My building wants a certificate of insurance before anyone works in it.
That is a normal request from an HOA or a building manager in this city and we can provide one. Ask for it when you book so it is on file before the crew shows up, otherwise the front desk will turn them away at the door.
